Painting the Howitzer
The Loveland Marine Corps League has accomplished the mission of painting the canon at Dwayne Webster Veterans Park. Click on the photo to see the project as it progressed. On Monday and Tuesday, May 17 and 18 the Loveland Detachment painted the Howitzer cannon at Dwayne Webster Veterans Park on the South Shore of Lake Loveland. This canon has been well used by children climbing on it for decades.

Lost and Found
When I went to pick up the tickets at Applebee’s the manager asked me if I could do him a favor. It seems that sometime in the past few months a Marine was in the restaurant and his challenge coin must have fell out of his pocket. The manager wanted to know if I could track him down and return his coin. I said it sounded like a challenge to me, so I have the coin.

Well we ran the story in the Loveland Reporter Herald and got a call from the grateful owner. Read the stories here Lost and Found

The flag bin was installed on September 1, 2008 and there has been a steady flow of flags being deposited in the bin.
The bin gets emptied twice a week. We have collected over 2,000 flags for proper disposal! Ooh Rah!
We receive quite a few 6 x 10 foot flags that are in pretty fair condition that would make good candidates for flag retirement ceremonies. If you know of any Scouts that would like one have them contact me.
The flags have ranged in size from tiny toothpick size to a giant 20' x 38' garrison flag.
Needless to say this is a great service to the citizens of Loveland who have shown their appreciation and respect for our flag by using the disposal bin.

A special thanks to the Loveland Fire Department for taking on the task of ensuring they are respectfully retired. Also, a big round of applause goes to Abel Herrera for collecting the last 850 flags.

Some flags have special meanings and here are a some of those
